If we have not already done so, most of
us will soon be packing away the remnants of another Christmas. The tree is at the
curb or stashed in a box. The family decorations and lights are boxed and
stored out of sight. Christmas is over, but now what?
As we begin a new year, may this
prayer of Howard Thurman help us keep Christmas every day.
The Work of
Christmas
When the song of the angels is
stilled
When the star in the sky is gone
When the kinds and princes are
home
When the shepherds are back with
their flock
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among brothers (and sisters),
To make music in the heart.
